January 24, 2022 – Following a record year of performance in 2021, RCP Advisors (“RCP”) is pleased to announce three partner-level promotions and two senior-level hires on the investment team.

Partner-Level Promotions:

Alex Abell, promoted to Managing Partner
Alex joined RCP in 2015 through the acquisition of his company, Atlas Diligence, a private equity research group that brought the GPScout research product to RCP. Alex has been in the private equity industry since 2001, with previous experience at BlackRock and Hewlett Packard. Alex will continue to lead RCP’s customized investment solutions and advisory services business and serve on the investment committee.

Calvin Kleinschmidt, promoted to Partner
Calvin has been with RCP for his entire professional career, joining in 2008 as an Analyst. He left in 2012 to pursue his MBA at the University of Chicago. Calvin returned following business school and has taken on increasing responsibility in the firm’s core primary funds investment activity. Today, he is co-portfolio manager of the flagship primary funds and is a primary fund investment committee member.

Raj Patel, promoted to Partner
Raj joined RCP’s investment team in 2013 following his earlier private equity investing experience at Conversus Capital. Raj has been involved in all aspects of the investment process. He initiated RCP’s small and emerging manager fund and has been heavily involved in the firm’s growing secondary investment business. He remains the co-portfolio manager of the RCP Secondary Opportunity Funds and serves on the secondary investment committee.

Recent Senior-Level Investment Team Hires:

Mary Hunt, Principal
Mary joined RCP in 2021 after a long career at Allstate Investments. As a Principal, she led their portfolio management and analytics group investing in funds and co-investments. Mary will perform many of the same functions at RCP, including portfolio manager of RCP Elevate Fund (RCP’s DEI-focused fund) as well as assuming responsibility for RCP’s small, emerging, and diverse manager relationships. Mary serves on RCP Elevate’s investment committee.

Jamaine Cook, Vice President
Jamaine recently joined RCP’s investment team after completing his MBA at the University of Chicago. He has relevant prior experience at BlackLine and KPMG, where he evaluated and performed financial due diligence on private equity firms. Prior to his corporate career, Jamaine played professional football for the Cleveland Browns.
